One of our volunteers, named Sarah, recently took a young man who aged out of the system on his $500 shopping spree. Sarah was able to pick him up at his home, and take him shopping for all of his needs. Throughout this trip this young man expressed the need to figure out how to pick up medications from a pharmacy as he had never had to do this before. Sarah assisted in teaching him how to handle this, while also helping him use the money we provided to get some of medicines this young man needed but could not afford on his own. Though we may be presenting a youth with a chance to go shopping, we know these experiences for these young people are really a chance to connect with someone who can help them and show them the ropes on what it takes to be a grown adult.
